last week Monday we decided to drop our weekend plans and head to West Virgina. All first timers to this noble state, we were eager to learn and experience some new things. So here are the takeaways:
- Our Uber driver explained that West Virgina is a great anomaly. It’s too northern to be southern, too southern to be northern, too eastern to be central, and too western to be eastern. So we stand in this great abyss that is West Virginia. Although they definitely showed us Southen Hospitality, and embody their own twangy dialect.
- After listening to some podcasted history, we learned West Virginia became it’s own state after succeeding from Virginia during the Civil War. They didn’t agree with Virginia’s stance on slavery so they BOUNCED!
- Pepperoni rolls are a delicacy.
- Podcasts explaining the nature of psychopaths should be avoided while driving through rural Indiana at 3 am.
Huzzah! Oldest building in the county.
we listened to John Denver’s ‘country roads’ every hour on the hour during the 13 hour pilgrimage to Morgantown.. & if all these photos aren’t enough… here’s a video.
